Lennie Peterson
Face to Face
On exhibit through June 2012
Lennie Peterson’s series of composer portraits are his celebration of the marriage between music and visual art and his way of paying tribute to musical genius. The details of Peterson’s drawing are improvised within a basic frame or outline of the form, and the drawings are rendered spontaneously with a stream of consciousness flow, similar to the process of creating improvisational music. Peterson draws half of his subjects’ faces, symbolizing his belief that we can only know a part of the makeup of such great musical figures.
