A NEW CHAPTER

After years of success thanks to the leadership of our board of directors, the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority this summer said goodbye to five long-standing board members and welcomed eight new members as we enter an exciting new era of growth.

Governor Deval Patrick swore them in, naming Michelle A. Shell, a Vice President at Fidelity Investments, as our new board chairman. While acknowledging that this new group of leaders will face the same types of criticism and challenges that the prior board dealt with when the construction of the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center was first proposed, Governor Patrick encouraged this new group of leaders to continue to move the MCCA, the Commonwealth and Boston

forward with the best interests of the Commonwealth in mind. The appointment of this new board comes at a critical time in the Authority's short history. With our Top 5 campaign in full swing, the MCCA has many plans for growth over the next few years as we adapt to an ever-changing economy and industry.

In her remarks, our new chair accepted Governor Patrick's challenge to forge ahead and pledged her commitment to the task on behalf of the new board. Along with Michelle, we welcomed Ann Conlon Roosevelt, Vanessa Otero, David R. Giblin, Paul J. Sacco, Mark Erlich, Michelle Consalvo and Ronald W. Rakow. It's an amazing group coming from an array of backgrounds and experiences.

Departing members include dear friends and colleagues, former Chair Gloria Cordes Larson, Peter J. Bassett, Dr. Rosabeth Moss Kanter, Dean F. Stratouly and Lisa C. Signori, all of whom served a combined 58 years on the board. Without their hard work and dedication to the MCCA, we would not be where we are today, a top 10 destination in the meeting and convention industry and new economic pillar for the Commonwealth. As we welcome this new board, we're not looking back. With the addition of each of their talents, we look forward to writing new chapters of accomplishments.
