Study Group Recommends Massachusetts Wait To Legalize Online Casinos

A special legislative commission in Massachusetts is recommending permanently legalizing daily fantasy sports, but holding off on sanctioning additional online gaming.

Massachusetts Gaming Commission Chairman Stephen Crosby said he agrees with the draft report that would give his agency oversight of the daily fantasy sports industry.

" There is a high quality company already operating and it needs to be dealt with more quickly and more immediately," he said.

The recommendation drew the ire of Massachusetts-based DraftKings, which insists fantasy sports is a game of skill and is not gambling.

The special commission recommends Massachusetts not legalize on-line poker or other games before the MGM Springfield and Wynn Boston Harbor casinos open late next year.
