Boston RV & Camping Expo Posts Attendance Record

The Boston RV & Camping Expo set an all-time attendance record, according to a report by the New England RV Dealers Association (NERVDA), which oversees the show with Paragon Group.

According to a press release, attendance for rose to 17,202, surpassing the previous record of 17,104 attendees for the event which ran Jan. 24-26 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

Several factors contributed to the success of the show, including spring-like weather in the middle of January in Boston.

Carolyn Weston, group director of Outdoor Lifestyle Events for Paragon Group, noted, “We had a good feeling on Friday when we had lines extending down the side of the building before we opened at 4 p.m. We haven’t seen that many people chomping at the bit to get in and see all the new RVs in a long time. The feeling continued throughout the show as record crowds lined up before the show opened on Saturday and Sunday. Several dealers were still writing up deals as the show came to a close Sunday evening.”

Comments from participants included:

• Ted Gulezian, general sales manager for Campers Inn RV — the show’s largest exhibitor with 42 units on display — said, “Saturday was record breaking with quality interest and good vibes.”

• Kevin Horoky, the New England Cougar rep, commented, “It was the best Boston RV Show I’ve seen since pre-recession as far as attendance and sales. Attendees were very enthusiastic about the upcoming RV season and were excited about the new and exciting floor plans that have hit the market place. All signs indicate a great year for RVers including the dealers and manufacturers! Keystone RV Company had a great showing with their valued dealers and excited to display their new floorplans.”

• On the supplier side, Jeff Slater of Major’s RV Service Center, had to return to the warehouse Saturday evening to restock their display for Sunday. Slater, manager of the largest parts and accessories store in New England, stated, “The best attended RV show I have done. Full of enthusiastic buyers with money to spend.”

• Layne Greqoire, owner of Country Camper with locations in New Hampshire and Vermont, related, “This is the best show for us every year, hands down. The quality of the audience is unmatched and there are more serious buyers here. The promotion of the show and hard work of NERVDA and Paragon Group are what make this such a successful show. We appreciate everything they do for us.”
