Coronavirus: NECANN Boston convention scheduled for December after being postponed due to COVID-19 concerns

As limits on large gatherings continue amid the COVID-19 pandemic, New England Cannabis Network has scheduled its Boston convention for December.

NECANN was slated to run on March 20, 21 and 22 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. In early March, organizers announced the event would be postponed because of the COVID-19 crisis.

The convention, called the East Coast’s largest cannabis industry event, is now slated for Dec. 10 - 12.

Last year’s convention had an attendance of more than 9,000 people. More than 10,000 were expected to attend this year, NECANN said last month.

The continued spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, has led to the cancellation of numerous events, including the Boston Marathon.

As of Friday afternoon, 599 Massachusetts residents have died from illness related to coronavirus and at least 20,974 residents have tested positive.
