Harvard Square store eyes Seaport location

A longtime Harvard Square specialty food store appears ready to cross the Charles River and open a Boston location.

Cardullo’s Gourmet Shoppe, in business since 1950, is seeking an all-alcohol package store license for 101 Seaport Blvd. on the South Boston waterfront, according to a legal notice. A Boston Licensing Board hearing is scheduled for next Wednesday.

Cardullo’s Cambridge location at 6 Brattle St. includes a deli offering house-made foods, charcuterie, cheeses, fresh-baked pastries and sandwiches. It also sells other gourmet foods, chocolates, coffee, tea, wine, Champagne, craft beer and specialty gift baskets.

Newton residents Kim and Richard Wilson, who purchased the store from the Cardullo family in 2015, couldn’t be reached for comment. North Carolina real estate investment firm Asana Partners bought Cardullo’s Cambridge building in a $108 million deal last month.

The 101 Seaport Blvd. office building is the local home of accounting giant PricewaterhouseCoopers and California asset management and development company Cottonwood Management Group’s Boston regional office.

Skanska USA, which developed the office tower, also has its Hub office there. Skanska sold the building in a 2016 deal valued at $452 million to Union Investment Real Estate GMBH, a German fund manager.

Retailers and other businesses in the tower include beauty store Bluemercury, Starbucks, the by Chloe vegan restaurant, Aceituna Grill, SoulCycle, Juice Press, Tikkaway Grill, Yoki Express and Chipotle Mexican Grill.
